Alan C. Shapiro, Ph.D.

Alan C. Shapiro has more than 40 years of experience in corporate and international financial management. Dr. Shapiro is the Ivadelle and Theodore Johnson Professor of Banking and Finance Emeritus at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, where he previously served as Chairman of the Department of Finance and Business Economics. Prior to joining USC, Dr. Shapiro was on the faculty of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and has been a visiting professor at Yale University, UCLA, the Stockholm School of Economics, University of British Columbia and the U.S. Naval Academy.

His best-selling textbook, Multinational Financial Management (Wiley & Sons, 9th ed., 2010), is in use in most of the leading MBA programs around the world. Dr. Shapiro has published over 50 articles and was cited in 2005 in the Journal of Finance Literature as one of the most frequent contributors to the academic finance literature over the past 50 years. He has consulted with numerous government agencies and leading multinational corporations and frequently serves as an expert witness in cases involving valuation, economic damages, international finance, takeovers, and transfer financing. He received his B.A. in Mathematics from Rice University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Shapiro is a trustee of Pacific Corporate Group’s Private Equity Fund and chairman of its Audit Committee; a past director of Remington Oil and Gas Corp. (NYSE:REM) until its acquisition in 2006 where he served as chairman of both its Audit and Compensation Committees; a past government-appointed director of Lincoln S&L; and a past director of OKC Corp. (NYSE:OKC) until its liquidation in 1981.
